Div. 11 latest art project!! Aren't these Fall Gnomes Amazing?

Please send in headphones asap.

Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Christmas Hamper donations are being collected until Dec. 8th.  Please send any donations of gift cards or cash.  Thank you so much for your support and generosity in this important community endeavour.

Raz Kids!  Everyone has a Raz Kids account that they can access through the blog - teacher name is srowledgetoscani and their  password is their name with a capital at the beginning.  The students know that they only ever go on their own account.  During Reader's Workshop the students can only listen and/or read books, and answer questions.  I have told them at home they can build their robots and of course read!

Exciting news!  Fairview PAC is hosting a Subway Hot lunch!  The order forms were sent home earlier this week. All orders must be in by Tuesday, Nov. 30th.

Spirit Days every Friday students are encouraged to wear Fairview colours (blue/yellow)!

Fairview is so lucky to have Dr. Saul and because of him our Christmas concert is in full gear!  Your child has the words to their song in their Poetry Duotangs.  For their costume, could you please send scarves, torques, mitts and winter coats next Wednesday as Dr. Saul will be filming.  Thanks!

Nov. 18/21

Div. 11 did some great Remembrance Day art and writing!

Leadership  students will be coming around Friday, Nov. 19th during lunch to sell "hot chocolate kits" which will contain prepackaged hot chocolate mix, wrapped Hershey's Kisses and wrapped miniature candy canes.  These kits will cost $2.00 each and all proceeds will go to the Maple Ridge Hospital.

A sign up for Conferences will be on the parent portal tomorrow afternoon. These conferences are on Thursday, Dec. 1 in the afternoon (students will be dismissed at 11:30 that day) and all day Fri., Dec. 2nd. *Please sign up for one conference time/child on the parent portal.  The link will be sent out closer to conferences. It is important that your child be with you during the zoom conference as we'll be celebrating their learning and setting goals together.  Please let me know if you are unable to make any of the times that are listed and we can arrange another time.  My plan is to send home some of your child's work and a draft of their report on Wednesday, Nov. 30th so that you can go through these together prior to their conference.  This is a time to enjoy, celebrate and discuss their work.

Just a reminder that book bags should be returned daily as we use them in class as well as for home reading.  The students seem to really be enjoying these books.  I will change these every 2/3 weeks.

Please send in headphones asap as we are now starting to use the iPads as a math station as well as at Reader's Workshop.  Also a reminder to send in an extra sweater or hoodie, for better ventilation keep our door open even though it's cooler outside.  Thanks.

Saturday was National Kindness Day so we have been focusing on the importance of being kind and different ways to show kindness.  We are currently reading the book The Kindness Quilt and in it they talk about a Kindness Project.  Div. 11 thought they should do this too!  If everyone can do something kind, make a picture about this and bring it to school to share.  These will be in their Poetry books on Friday and we will share them next week.   Thanks for your support with this project.

Speaking about Kindness...Fairview's Annual Collection for Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Christmas Hamper will be starting next week.  This year again only gift cards will be accepted but these are very appreciated to help families that are less fortune.    Thanks for your support!

Nov. 4th

Wow it is hard to believe it is already November and that Div. 11 has been together for 2 months now.  While we were in the forest today I was thinking of the many friendships that are developing and the community we are creating together.  Our first Reader's Workshop presentations have gone very well and the students are a good audience and complimentary of their peers' reading.

Updates/Reminders/Thank you's

Art Cards are due tomorrow, if you want to place an order.  Please ensure you have  filled out the back before sending it in.  Please return even if you don't want to order as we are keeping them for your child's memory book.  Thanks!

Tomorrow is our first Spirit Friday. Students are encouraged to wear Fairview colours blue/yellow or their Fairview gear.

Thank you to everyone that completed the word search last weekend.  It was a challenging one I know and was meant to be a family activity and that you would need to help your child. Please keep working on it this weekend.

This week we have the poem 'Hug of War' in our Poetry duotangs. We have been asked to read/record for our school Remembrance Day assembly with Mrs. Roberts' class on Tuesday.  Please practice reading this over the weekend and        ensure that these are returned by Tuesday.  Thanks again for your support with this.

Please only send 1-2  Halloween treats in your child's lunch if you send them and please no lollipops.  I am encouraging them to eat something healthy first.

Leadership students are having a hot chocolate fundraiser on Friday, November 19th.  More information to follow.

Thursday, Nov. 11 there is no school due to Remembrance Day and Nov. 12  is an Non-instructional day (no school)

Nov.18th we will be posting the conference sign up  on the parent portal.   All Fairview teachers will be doing it on the 18th so that you can coordinate times with siblings.  Conferences will be on Zoom again this year and as usual your child should attend.  I will be sending home your child's work prior to the conferences.
