May 27th, 2022

I hope you enjoyed your May long weekend.  It was certainly nice to have some sunshine! It's hard to  believe that next week will be June, time is just flying by!

Div. 11 has continued to have interesting science experiments.  We learned how vinegar and baking soda can inflate a balloon, how to make elephant toothpaste, saw a volcano in a jar and a candle vacuum!  The students are doing an excellent job of completing and sharing their projects and the class is asking good scientific questions.

Updates/Thank Yous/Reminders:                                                                                                       *Yesterday was another successful hot lunch.  Thank you to the Fairview PAC for creating this opportunity for our school community. They will also be giving all students/staff a free frozen yogurt on the Fun Day they have organized on June 17th.  That's why supporting their fundraisers is very appreciated.

*Smooth Rocks/Stones NEEDED for a special craft:  We are asking each child to please find and bring a small, smooth rock.  These should be no bigger than their pinky fingers. Could you please label it with tape or a post-it with your child's name and send it in sometime next week.

Volunteers needed:  As the year is coming to a close I was hoping that some of you might be willing to wash some of our math and building manipulatives in preparation for the upcoming school year.     Dishsoap and warm water work best.  Thanks in advance to anyone who is willing to help out with this.  Last year I literally spent days washing everything.

*Hopefully we are heading into warm weather, just a reminder to make sure your child has a water bottle, sunscreen and a hat when it is required.  We continue to enjoy our outside times.

*Thank you for checking the front pouch of your child's planner regularly.

*Please remember that the book with the yellow post-it is the one that your child needs to practice for Reader's Workshop.  It should be in their planner bag.

May 20, 2022

Div. 11 Scientist of the Day started this week with some exciting experiments and great learning.  So far we have learned about Dancing Raisins, Milk Magic, Floating Ink, Scared Pepper all of which had a variety of chemical reactions.  Ask your child what they have learned.

Scholastic went home on Wednesday, remember if you are ordering you need to use the class code.  Thanks to Kenzie and her mom for organizing these for us.  Please be checking the secret pouches of your child's planners regularly as many of them have several notices in there.  There is PAC fundraiser information and possibly even your child's scientist sheets.

Spelling duo-tangs went home on Thursday, these are to stay at home.  You can still access Spelling City link to practice these important phonetic patterns.

Don't forget to wear Fairview colours (blue and yellow) or Fairview clothing on Fridays.

Remember there is no school on Monday due to the holiday.  Enjoy!
