Feb. 23rd

Hope you all had a good Family Day weekend.  The weather this last few days has been so nice, a little chilly but so beautiful!

*Next week is a short week due to conferences (early dismissal Thursday, no school Friday) but we will still start our spelling as it is a review week.  I will introduce half of the wordlist on Monday, Feb. 28th but there will be no quiz that week.  The following Monday students will add the other half of the list to their planners and the quiz/spelling sheet will be due that Friday, March 11/22.  This review week, combines all the short vowel word patterns that we have studied up to this date.

*We are celebrating our 100th Day of school on Tuesday, March 1st.  Students are encouraged to wear their collection of 100 (t-shirt, hat, necklace, etc.). We have a day of fun planned based on the number 100!

*Please return your child's calendar for Club RED by Thursday, March 3rd so that we can celebrate their olympic (reading) accomplishments!  Once our podium is complete I'll include a picture of Fairview's Club RED display.

*Please sign up for conferences on the parent portal asap. Sign up for one 15 minute period and remember your child needs to be part of this conference.  If these times don't work please let me know and we can arrange a different time. I will be sending home your child's work and a rough draft of their report card on Wednesday prior to conferences. Please take time to share your child's work and start thinking of goals prior to the conference.  I will send the zoom link closer to the conference dates.  Looking forward to seeing all of you on either March 3/4 to celebrate your child!

*You should have received a portal notice about Memory Books and Joyful Learning, please pay the $15.00 as soon as possible.  Thanks to those of you that have already paid!

*Tomorrow is our book fair preview day. Your child may bring home their 'wishlist'.  We will be shopping on Monday during our library time.  If you would like your child buy something in person, please send money in a clearly marked container/envelope.  We are strongly encouraging everyone to shop online this year as we are not unable to provide extra adult support due to Covid protocols.
