January 27/22

Div. 11's latest news and reminders...

*Thank you for your support with our new spelling program.  Duotangs will continue to come home on Wednesday and Thursday nights for homework if it is not completed during class time. I have gone over the lesson with the students but you will probably need to encourage or help them to read the directions so they can complete it properly.  Please return the duotang each day.  We will have our weekly quiz on Friday and students will have to show that their spelling assignment is complete before they go to 'Freetime Friday'.

*Last week, your child brought home a Canadian flag and letter about their upcoming Great Canadian presentations that they will be doing.  There is detailed information in the letter but please feel free to email me with any questions.  When you are adding photos (which can include family/friends/cousins) to the flag, please place them so that we can still see that the background is a flag. If you would like more room to add pictures, you are welcome to use the back as well.  Also, please have your child write their first and last name on the front of their poster (middle names are optional). Please send the poster in with your child on the day of their presentation.  These will be laminated and added to your child's memory book.

*Please send in headphones/earbuds if you haven't already done so.  We use these both during Reader's Workshop and math so it is important for your child to have some.

*Thank you for doing the daily health check and continuing to keep your children home if they are feeling unwell.  Could you also ensure that your child has an additional mask(s) in their backpacks.  We seem to be going through them especially with this moist cold air and fog!

*Please look out for the 'Club Red' notice and calendar on Monday, January 31st.  This is a fun, school-wide reading program we will be doing for the month of February.  It is a winter olympics theme this year and includes a home reading component that begins on February 1st.

*Valentine's Day is coming soon.  When you are making Valentines please ensure if you are doing this that you make one for everyone in the class so no one feels left out.  Thanks!  Div. 11 students are listed below!
